OUT AND ABOUT IN LIVERPOOL

TATE-USE In celebration of our brand new Liverpool store which opens tomorrow we asked Natalie Haywood – founder of Leaf Tea Shop and bar – to take a break from supplying us with cocktails and cakes at the launch and give us the low-down on where to go for fun in the city:

This guide is Natalie's hit list of the must-see places to seek out in her wonderful home city, Liverpool.

Fashionable eateries on a budget:

The Quarter – Situated just off Hope Street by the cathedrals and Universities, this place is bustling with a mixed crowd who soak up Sunday morning brekkies with the papers. It's all about summer afternoons outside, laid-back evenings, and it's great value for money too.

Leaf Tea Shop & Bar – A cool tea shop and bar that attracts a muso, creative, arty set who enjoy the homemade cakes, late night gigs and seasonal café menu. Leaf Tea Shop is a multi-media venue hosting club nights, art shows and retro shopping stalls on the last Sunday of every month!

Girly gifts – trinkets and delicious décor:

Utility – These two cool design shops are situated on Bold Street and showcase the best in quirky gifts, home ware and décor.

Claudia Pink Jewellery – The flamboyant jewellery designer Claudia Pink is based in Grand Central, Liverpool's largest alternative shopping arcade. Find unique big rings, headbands, armcuffs, earrings, pendants, bracelets and body chains, all of which are regularly featured in weekly glossy magazines.

Some of the places that helped earn Liverpool the Capital of Culture award!:

The Bluecoat Chambers – A wonderful oasis right behind Liverpool 1 Shopping Centre. It was refurbished last year and boasts a landscaped garden, a café, craft shops, art and more. A fantastic chill-out space in the heart of the city.

The Tate – The sister gallery to London's world famous Tate based at the city's historical Albert Dock. Set alongside art shops, museums and cafes, an afternoon at the Tate never fails to surprise with new installations and shows.

FACT – Right in the heart of Liverpool's Cultural quarter, FACT is the city's biggest independent cinema, plus it hosts a wine bar, art installations, a mini library and a cafe. With free wi-fi and an ever-changing showcase of movies, it's well worth the visit.
