New York’s beloved conceptual-chic label, Proenza Schouler, went for a ladylike uptown vibe for spring, with tailored tweed skirt-suits and classic pumps leading the looks on the catwalk.
It was a surprising move for Proenza, who have come to be known for an experimental, essentially youthful aesthetic. It wasn’t long into the catwalk show, however, that the clothing started to change rapidly – in an instant, the ensembles went from stitched-up suits to textural and Shibori tie-dyed fluorescent dresses, paired with bold 70s-style geometric statement jewellery. The effect was captivating and inspiring – the audience including Courtney Love, Simon Doonan, Terry Richardson, Hamish Bowles and many more were looking on in awe at the originality and innovation on show.
The incredible super-cool flat sandals and futuristic sandal boots became instant must-haves for the new season!
