PRESENTATION REPORT: J.JS LEE

Jackie JS Lee only graduated from the renowned Fashion MA at Central Saint Martins last February and has already been awarded NEWGEN sponsorship for her relatively new, eponymous label. The Korean-born designers' sleek yet androgynous graduate collection in dusty monochromes made her an instant hit with the style set and after her presentation at London Fashion Week yesterday, we can see why.

For an up-and-coming designer, Lee certainly has a flair for cut. Her AW11 collection was made up of traditionally tailored pieces that were oh so sharp but had an utterly desirable sleek and womanly feel. Just look at the way Lee's dresses and jackets envelop and fall around the body – it makes you want to slip into a piece from her collection and channel minimal chic.

Although we loved Lee's continued use of jersey fabrics, we we're quite literally lusting after the supple leathers and beautifully chunky knits that she introduced for next winter. Tailoring may be Lee's specialty – the lean dove grey leather suit with the embossed Picasso 'Guitar' notes is sure to be shot for too many editorials to even count – but we really did love Lee's softer, more layered silhouettes. Her knitted grey cocoon shape dress with the delicate pearl belt really did set our hearts racing as did the belted fine-knit button-down dress styled with the chunky knit coatigan.

This was a collection for a girl, or woman, who wants to look smart in a uniquely feminine way and like us, it seems that everyone loved it. We also have to tell you just how beautifully made the entire of Lee's collection was – we saw it all up close and were amazed at the bespoke finish of every single piece.
