Made up of a stunning selection of illustrations, paintings and sculptures by the famous French Impressionist artist, Edward Degas, the exhibition focuses on his fascination with the French ballet.
Degas mixed within an extremely influential set of Parisians and had unparalleled connections. Allowed to slip backstage and draw the dancers whilst they rehearsed for their show, his ballerina series give us a sneak peek of what it must have been like to be a dancer in the Parisian theatres of the late 1800s.
Degas’ groundbreaking use of colour and the innovative techniques he used to capture moving-image through early film and photography confirm him to be one of the greatest impressionists of his time. We can’t wait to go along and fall in love with Degas and the ballet all over again…
Don’t miss out and make sure you get down there before the exhibition closes on December 11th.
