FRONT OF HOUSE AT PETER PILOTTO

The smell of bacon butties and fresh coffee had a wondrous effect on the crowd that assembled at Topshop's Billingsgate Market showspace for the early morning Peter Pilotto show. Suddenly everyone was perky and in good spirits, and excited about the show ahead.

Peter Pilotto always brings in a serious fashion crowd, so Anna Wintour was there (although she refused to chat to us until she’d had her morning coffee – fair enough, we’d be the same), as were Franca Sozzani and Natalie Massenet. Poppy Delevingne was bright-eyed and bushy tailed despite a long day of shows and night of parties yesterday, and Natalie Hartley looked uber-chic in monochrome and a fleck of neon on her satchel bag.

But we thought the best dressed of all were the Peter Pilotto PR girls, who were a coterie of digitally printed dolls in dresses from the SS12 collection; every piece looked every it as good off the catwalk as on.

We reckon exactly the same will go for this season, but you’ll have to wait and see our review here shortly!

Meanwhile backstage, it had been an early start for the hair and makeup teams this morning, and they had their work cut out for them to make the bleary eyed models look fresh, dewy and full of life. Makeup was kept ultra simple – a barefaced look with a hint of a glow was all that was needed in order to give full focus to the eye-bending prints and fabric mash-up of Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos’s latest collection. Hair was pulled back into a simple low bun so that the overall effect was one of clean minimalism. Not so the clothes – or, for that matter the shoes. Nicholas Kirkwood looked confident as he mooched around the backstage room sipping a cup of tea – and we can see why – just wait til you see what he came up with this season. We think they may even trump his beautiful shoes for SS12!
