THE FULL REPORT: CHRISTOPHER RAEBURN

A light airy room and the sound of whistling wind welcomed us at Christopher Raeburn, with a few carefully placed inflatable animals that had us thinking about the elements straight away. We took our seats and waited for a collection that saw the designer's signature pieces complimented by new colours, accessories and detailing that brought it bang up to date.

There were British wool coats with drop-back hems, quilted step shoulders and all kinds of lengths, there were quilted boots and luxury cagoules, rosette ribboning and muted tones. There was more than a nod to head gear, with cute jersey snoods and outsized hoods, gently peaked at the front to give a design-centric feel.

Occasional bursts of sunshine yellow pierced the otherwise muted palette of moss green, cadet blue and heavenly pearlised cream. Details like huge pockets and tiny toggle fastenings were the perfect accents to a collection that played with proportion. From his tiny quilted bombers to his full length rain coats, Raeburn presented a selection of clothes that exuded a sense of outdoorsy luxury made palatable for city living. These are pieces we want to wear every day, with everything – pieces that make outerwear the most exciting part of an outfit.
