In the brand new issue of our Topshop magazine (now available in stores), we talked to the inspirational fashion editor and bloggers' muse, Julia Sarr-Jamois. As well as styling the delectable Come As You Are denim shoot for our summer magazine, Julia also took the time to tell us how she got started in the industry – she's already Fashion Editor of Wonderland magazine at just 23 – and gave us an insight into her personal style. Everytime we see Julia at Fashion Week she looks incredible, so we wanted to find out more about what's inside her wardrobe!
Describe your style…
What three pieces in your wardrobe could you not live without?
You get photographed obsessively by bloggers. Has that changed how you dress?
No, not really. Today, I’m wearing jeans, Converse, a Christopher Kane jumper and a fluffy coat. I’d wear that if I was going to shows. The only difference is that I don’t usually wear heels because I’m always running around.
And the Topshop nail colour that you’re wearing?
You started out as a model. Was it difficult to go from that into styling?
Not really. Modelling was a really good way of supporting myself when I was interning, trying to get into magazines. But I never saw it as a long-term thing.
How did you get to be a fashion editor so young?
I just started young. I didn’t go to university. I knew I really wanted to work in magazines and just went for it. My brother’s girlfriend at the time worked at i-D, so I started interning there. I was only meant to there for two weeks, but I stayed for ages.
What do you do when you’re not working?
I’m not much of a party animal, so going out for dinner, chilling out, watching films. One of my favourites is Casablanca.
Do you have a fancy dress costume?
Last year I went to a Disney themed Halloween party as Minnie Mouse with Afro ears.
