SAY HELLO TO NEWGEN SS13

Posted on June 19, 2012

This just in – the recipients of NEWGEN sponsorship for SS13 have been announced and we're excited to say that Topshop will be working with a brilliant crop of design talent once again. The NEWGEN scheme was set up in 1993 by the British Fashion Council to spot and support fledging designers as they get their careers off the ground, and it has previously helped Christopher Kane, Erdem and Mary Katrantzou amongst many others.

At London Fashion Week in September, we'll be sponsoring Simone Rocha, JW Anderson and Michael van der Ham's catwalk shows, along with supporting presentations by Christopher Raeburn, J.JS Lee, Lucas Nascimento, Marques Almeida, Nasir Mazhar and Sister by Sibling. In the Exhibition space, the Topshop NNEWGEN sponsorship has been awarded to Palmer//Harding, Huishan Zhang, Lim Cooper and Sophia Webster.

ROCHA

All of these designers contribute something unique and vibrant to the look of London, from Simone Rocha's girly/androgynous fusion with a luxe finish (above) to Michael van der Ham's beautiful mish-mash of appliquéd, patchworked, embellished creations (below).

VAN DER HAM

We're looking forward to seeing what our newest collaborator, JW Anderson, creates for his SS13 show – maybe it will give us a hint as to what he will be producing for his special Topshop collection, also due in September.

JW ANDERSON

The other names on the NEWGEN list are also definitely ones to watch out for  – Christopher Raeburn is redefining traditional outerwear, Nasir Mazhar represents London cool with his creative headgear and accessories, while Sister by Sibling have a punk rock take on revolutionary knitwear.

Having been involved for over 10 years now, we're so happy to continue our work with the NEWGEN scheme and the talented designers who benefit from it. It should be a brilliant Fashion Week once again!

I’m a sixth form student, from Birmingham, completeing a textiles A-level and potentially deciding to create a design brief centred around “designing and making a dress for the Topshop Unique range”. I was wondering if you had any information on your luxury brands or your target market. Also if you had any industrial contacts, which would be helpful with my brief and A-level. I’m incredibly intrested in fashion and Topshop and was hoping to gain any addition information on the unique range and it’s key elements and ideas. Also if it was possible I was wondering if you could be my “industrial contact” this would mean I interview you via email and would use your opinion on deisgns for my coursework, it would take little time and would be much appreciated!
