A SNEAK PEEK AT TOPSHOP UNIQUE SS13

Exciting times are ahead! London Fashion Week is just around the corner and with our Unique SS13 collection rapidly coming to life, we thought it was high time to delve behind the scenes here at Topshop HQ and offer you a 360-degree glimpse into the exciting process of creating a catwalk collection.

From working on toiles with our pattern team to deciding on the soundtrack with Mimi Xu and everything else in between, plus exclusive access to our Head of Design, Emma Farrow’s personal diary, make sure you stay tuned here on our blog every Monday and Wednesday, as we’ll be giving you the ultimate fly on the wall treatment in the run up to our Unique show on Sunday 16th September.

First stop? The Bauhaus: Art of Life exhibition at the Barbican where our in-house design team decided to take a trip to immerse their artistic sensibilities and fuel their mutual penchant for all things modern and metric. The exhibition, which has sadly completed its term as of yesterday, paid tribute to the world’s most famous art school and was the biggest of its kind in over 40 years. Inspired by the artists’ play on light and shade and the simple yet effective mix of organic and linear shapes, it’s safe to say that our team came away with ideas galore, especially when it comes to print…

But we wouldn’t want to give too much away now would we? Stay tuned and you may just get a sneak peek of how an initial idea can translate on to fabric, before becoming something you’ll want to be wearing next summer…

Look out for #Topshop Unique to keep up to date with how the collection is coming together on Twitter and if you’re on Instagram, don’t forget to follow us @Topshop.
