For Irish-born designer, Jonathan William Anderson, supporting the UK’s independent manufacturers is a crucial aspect of his design process. It anchors his world to a reality outside of London, keeping craftsmen working and longstanding traditions, well, longstanding!
So where do his designs go from sketch to sample? Adamley Textiles in the leafy village of Langley. Based at the foothills of the Pennines, the mill has been producing and printing silk for 50 years, now adding the J.W. penchant for paisley (as seen on the beautiful Alexa Chung) to their pretty print portfolio.
And what about his signature tartan kilts? Naturally, they’re made in Scotland; combining heritage with tradition, it’s a dream combination.
