Well, as you can imagine, we have quite a soft spot for the wonderful J.W. Anderson! After his recent collaboration with yours truly saw throes of fashion savvy ladies storm Topshop’s Oxford Circus flagship, we were particularly intrigued to see what the designer of the moment would pull out of the bag.
And there was no better place to feel the hype and the excitement than backstage. Jonathan himself was rushing around perfecting last minute styling and giving his expert eye to all of the looks, as well as hair and make-up.
Talking of make-up, industry champion Diane Kendal was bringing her years of experience to the team. Conscious not to draw anything from Anderson’s beautiful collection, Diane kept to a minimal look, focusing on natural skin, sculpted and highlighted cheeks and feathered brows. Katie Hughes of Butter London was also on hands (literally) giving a clean and buffed look to the nails with their foundation and matte-look finish.
As for the hair, it was left in the talented hands of Paul Halmon, the dreamy floppy-haired stylist who was donned in Opening Ceremony sweatshirt. Once the girls were lined up all ready to power down the catwalk, we nabbed Paul for a quick chit-chat behind the models super slicked back hair and long slim ponytails. “The collection is quite busy with a lot of print so we wanted to keep it minimal. I also wanted to bring a bit of an ugliness, a weird, almost churchgirl-like look,” said Halmon, “then again, it’s almost Pierre Cardin and helmet-like to match with Anderson’s weird 60s boots!”
What’s clear is the top notch team Anderson puts together for his shows that nods to his professionalism and brand’s rising caliber.
Love J.W.Anderson? Don’t forget to check out his amazing Topshop collaboration.
