To celebrate the new and improved Fashion Book from Phaidon we teamed up with the star book publisher’s for a launch event like no other at our London and New York stores. Vogue declare it the fashion bible and Elle call it the definitive resource, what’s clear is the coffee-table tome is undeniably the most authoritative tome on fashion and beyond… what better excuse to get some fabulous fashion people around a table for a talk about all things fashion? (Don’t forget to buy the book, here).
In our Soho store in Manhattan we had the most exciting collection of style stars yet. A panel starring the legendary Iris Apfel, star designer Vera Wang, Dirk Standen from Style.com and Simon Collins Dean of Fashion at Parsons. Hot topics featured the new icons, the democratisation of fashion and of course, the new Fashion Book and its brand new stars. The audience listened attently while snacking from macaroon towers and fine wines. Our favourite moment was Iris Apfel comment on her over night success “ it took me 70 years!”
Taking over the iconic London Oxford Circus store we embarked on a Topshop Talk hosted by SHOWstudio‘s Lou Stoppard with star milliner Stephen Jones, curator Shonagh Marshal and senior lecturer Heather Sproats to an audience of enthused students and style lovers sipping cocktails and treating themselves to snacks from the Marshmallowists. The discussion flitted around similar topics at New York but most excitingly was Stephen Jones style tip – “always add an accessory before you leave the house!” We’re not sure what Coco Chanel would say about that but we think it’s pretty decadent advice!
