We always knew the arrival of Kate Moss for Topshop would be one big party, but nothing quite prepared us for the sheer greatness of yesterday’s launch. Hoards of fashion fans headed down to our London flagship, invading every square inch of Oxford Street to wait for the chance to shop the collection. At 6pm the time came for Kate herself to greet the crowds, stepping out into the store window with her pal Grimmy to cheers of everyone on the street, as well as shocked commuters on the passing buses! But the party didn’t stop there – here’s five things we learnt at the launch.
1. Kate has the best friends
There’s nothing like celebrating a big moment with your bessies, so Kate invited all her nearest and dearest down to enjoy the fun. Suki Waterhouse, Cara Delevingne, Sienna Miller and Naomi Campbell all came to show their support, partying the night away and looking a million dollars in Kate’s designs. Don’t you think they’d make the BEST girl band?
2. Queueing can be seriously fun
With many arriving a good six hours before kick off, we thought it was only fair to keep up everyone’s strength with foodie treats in the queue. Honest Burger were on hand with yummy mini burgers, plus frozen yogurt from FRAE and beautiful sweet treats from Lola’s cupcakes. Our stylish queuers were too excited to be bored, chatting about their shared love for Ms Moss and taking queue selfies – now totally a thing.
3. Kate’s got a new favourite band
As part of the party Kate introduced us to the latest sound she’s loving. Duke Dumont and Kelli-Leigh got the crowds going with their feel-good track ‘I Got U’ and we even spied a certain Mr Philip Green and his daughter Chloe having a dance together in the front row!
4. You lot would probably win an Olympic sprint
As the doors opened and our patient fashion fans were finally allowed to shop the collection, you couldn’t see them for dust! Everyone rushed down the escalators to snap up their favourite pieces, all leaving happy customers with huge smiles on their faces.
5. The collection has Stella’s seal of approval
Kate’s swanky after party at The Connaught hotel saw a starry guest list of everyone from Jaime Winstone and Aluna Francis to David Bailey and Tallulah Harlech. But we were most star struck to see Stella McCartney mingling at the do. When one of Britain’s greatest fashion designers comes along to support your collection you know you must have done something right! Check out all the party pics right here.
