DANIELLE ROMERIL SS15

WHO: The Irish designer Danielle Romeril who graduated from the Masters course at the prestigious Royal College of Art.

WHAT: Her debut presentation at London Fashion Week and her first time as part of the Topshop sponsored NEWGEN initiative.

WHERE: Somerset House’s basement presentation space.

FRONT ROW: There wasn’t a front row so much as a constantly moving stream of bloggers, photographers and fashion assistants weaving in and around the presentation.

COLLECTION IN 5 WORDS: A girl gang goes wild.

PLAYLIST: Jungle massive tunes with lyrics embracing the great outdoors.

Blush applied across cheeks and nose for that sun-burnt look!

WHAT WE LOVED: The deep pockets and dress with built-in-backpacks. When we grabbed Danielle after the show she declared, “you’ll never have to wear a handbag again!” And after a few days dragging around our laptops, notebooks and phones on the crook of our arms, we get it!

INSPIRED BY: A wild camping trip to the mountains in Wicklow, Ireland that made Danielle dream up an imagined girl gang who live in the deep South. Danielle imagined them living an idyllic summer completely self sufficiently. (This was taken literally with one of the model’s toting a fishing rod!)

HERO PIECE: A structured dress with big 3-D pockets and hand-painted camouflage in silk organza, lace and georgette.

HAIR & BEAUTY: As you’d expect from girls living out on the Bayou, sunkissed! Make-up artist Niamh Quinn gave the models’ cheeks and eyelids a bronzed glow while keeping skin dewy and fresh. Hair was similarly unkempt with gentle plaits and breezy bobs.

WHAT THE SHOW NOTES SAID: “Still youthful and relaxed, Romeril cleverly bridges the gap between having fun and post-consumer living.”

WHAT THE EDITORS SAID:

@TeleFashion: Fisherman chic at Danielle Romeril!

@Francesca_Dunn: When #LFW is over, I’m going to run away from home and live in the woods with with @DanielleRomeril
