Supporting new design talent is in our DNA. From Christopher Kane to Mary Katrantzou, we’ve kicked off the careers of the some of the most exciting London designers out there by supporting the NEWGEN . (Excuse the HUMBLEBRAG…)
As usual, we’re toting the ones to watch in our NEWGEN space at London’s Somerset House. The space which takes over two rooms features our picks of the season – Claire Barrow, Ryan Lo, Lucas Nascimento, Marques’Almeida, Faustine Steinmetz, Paula Gerbase, Ashley Williams and Danielle Romeril – in an interactive screen but also shows of an exhibition space for our goth girl. Ms Barrow.
And who did we run into? Why, Ms Barrow herself, who talked us through some key pieces from her SS15 collection which will be showing at Marylebone Gardens over the weekend. Clare was looking cool and collected in a slinky black bodycon with metal belt of her own design. “I’m doing a separate show myself so I don’t want to give too much away,” she said while holding up a white denim summer dresse with distressed edges that are miles from her usual gothic aesthetic. “I will say, it’s quite soft this time. There’s quite a tender feeling to it. I wanted to change direction a little bit but there are still my classic darker themes going through it. There’s a little erotica in there too – a few naughty bits!” Intrigued? We are!
Down at Somerset House yourself? Head down to the space to make your very own customisable NEWGEN bag. YR store have taken over an area – that you may have seen at our Oxford Circus flagship – with screens set up for you to design your very own cloth bag with exclusive prints from the NEWGEN gang. We highly recommend the baby pink Ryan Lo pattern!
