NEW NAMES TO NOTE

Central Saint Martins' MA show always gives us new names to note! And at their renowned fashion show at London Fashion Week, things we’re no different.  Michael Van Der Ham and Oden Wilson (joint winners of the L'Oreal Professionel Fashion Design Award), David Koma (winner of the Harrods design award) and a host of other students - including Laura Mackness, Abigail Briggs and Derek Lawlor - all received great reviews in the press.      

So when we got an invitation to attend Saint Martins' MA private view last week, we couldn't wait to get a look at the collections up close. Top on our list are David Koma’s black bodycon shapes, Laura Mackness’ playful pants and Michael Van Der Ham’s multi-textured dresses!

Take note of fashion’s newest names - you'll be hearing a lot more of them come AW09. As Sarah Mower wrote on Style.com, ‘It was all polished, accomplished and considered, even down to the detail of every shoe - a level of finish that suggests these students are striving for more than top marks in their graduation parade.’

I was really impressed by how well Michael Van Der Ham pieced together his outfits, it could have looked really disjointed but it works.

I totally agree with Kay - it could have been a total hit and miss, but Michael Van Der Ham made it work! His garments are absolutely wonderful! I can't wait to get my paws on one of his dresses!

I love David Koma and I couldnt agree more with Kay and Lena. I hope there will be collaborations. Actually I work at Topshop in Sweden and I cant get enough of this blog! Keeps me updated every day!
