We’ve been Ranked!

Rankin, perhaps one of the most formidable forces in portraiture photography rose to fame back in the 90s when he co-founded the cult magazine Dazed & Confused with Jefferson Hack and Katie Grand.

Since then he has gone on to shoot the biggest names in fashion, celebrity and music from Kate Moss to the Queen, Brad Pitt to Tony Blair. This summer he’s undertaken his most ambitious exhibition yet, shooting people selected from thousands of applicants as the live part of the exhibition, with portraits being displayed on huge screens which form part of the his ever growing collection.

We just couldn’t resist the chance to get in on the action so hot footed it down to the Truman Brewery where we went through a whirlwind of hair and make up (where the lovely Lynda worked her magic) and before we knew it we were in front of the camera giving Rankin our best pouts. Chin down, wind machine on and eyes through the camera. Wow!

Rankin himself was amazing and soon had us pouting away, striking some serious poses and really getting into it. Such a cool vibe and exciting buzz, we didn’t want to leave – but left on a high, armed with our fab photos and dreaming of cover shoots.

Applications are still open so get in quick or just make sure you go down & check out the exhibition showcasing a massive retrospective of 22 years of the hottest photographer on the block at the Truman Brewery, Brick Lane until 18th September.

Last night, we invited our favourite UK bloggers to HQ for a night of dressing up and photo taking! Not only was it really lovely to meet everyone but what could be better than a night full of yummy canapés, amazing outfits and silly poses?

After having a good look at all the exciting pieces about to land, our lovely bloggers wandered through the Arcadia photo booth to find an unexpected room packed with all the latest pieces from our AW09 collections. Yes, The Chronicles of Narnia was the inspiration behind that one!

Having played dress-ups and styled up their favourite pieces,Alistair Guy was on hand to take everyone's photos. Armed with an array of props, there was some super-cute posing! Take a look at a few of our favourite pics and check out our Facebook page for more.

We know we made Shingai's outfits for V Festival but we've got a serious style crush going on. The Noisettes' singer looked amazing in this champagne satin bra and hotpant combo. And what about that red fringed bolero? We need one now - if only we could play the guitar like that!

CALLING ALL BUDDING ARTISTS!

The new Topshop/ Topman store is set to open in Liverpool on September 18th and we're currently on the hunt for a budding artist to help us add the finishing touches.

So if you fancy having your work featured in our new store, make sure you enter our latest competition where the winner will have the chance to design the central staircase area that runs through every floor. The wall is approximately 3m wide and a massive 14m tall so this is a great opportunity to really show us what you can do!

The winner will be picked by Tim Whitmore and Paul Drummond, creative directors of Topshop and Topman and will preferably have their own team of helpers. You will have five days to complete the wall and we will provide an extra two people to help with painting if necessary. The wall will need to be done between September 10th - 15th, so the closing date for all entries is Thursday, September 3rd, 2009. Entrants need to submit their design ideas to Gemma Boner at Topman by post, either on disk or on paper to: Colegrave House, 70 Berners Street, London, W1T 3NL. Entries should be marked "Liverpool design competition."

And what do you win? Well apart from having your work seen by thousands and thousands of shoppers and featured all over the local press, you'll receive £200 to spend instore.
