MARK FAST SS10

Mark Fast kick-started the second day of LFW at our show-space this morning with a beautiful, handcrafted collection mostly made up of jaw-dropping dresses.

Despite being an early start, the fashion pack were out in full force to see what the Canadian born, Central Saint Martins trained designer would send down the catwalk for SS10 and he didn’t disappoint!

Inspired by the serenity and mystery of silent films from the 1920s, Mark's collection was based upon the story of an Egyptian queen who lost her power and had to escape the kingdom that betrayed her in the dead of the night.

Focusing on women’s courage in modern society - backstage, Mark also stated that the attitude of Julia Robert’s in the film Erin Brockovitch had inspired his collection - Mark presented garments designed for different size-groups. Everyone on the front row had to agree on how refreshing it was to see models with different body shapes make their way down the catwalk.

Playing with draping, density and volume, for SS10 Mark explored and incorporated different areas of tension and volume into his signature, skin-tight knitted dresses! Along with his eye-popping colour palette, Mark’s use of Swarovski crystals, pearls, feathers and leather also added a new season dimension that had the fashion pack scribbling!

This was a celebration of the female body and we can’t wait to get a hold of one of Mark’s knitted dresses when his collaboration with us hits Topshop in the near future.

Oh and we need to get our hands on a pair of Christian Louboutin’s Mark Fast suede deep V booties ….
