We’ve been meaning to get down to the Alison Jaques Gallery to see Ryan McGinley's newest exhibition, but London Fashion Week kept getting in the way!
The photographer has travelled through previously un-chartered subterranean territory to produce a collection of 24 incredible images. The conditions were treacherous, the lighting was non-existent and the models were wearing no more than their birthday suits, but each picture manages to somehow capture the awesome power of nature. We were struck by the sense of scale, of seeing an image and then realising that somewhere in it is a tiny person. Not to mention the vivid colours and quiet sense of total isolation.
It’s running from 11 September – 8 October and we’d definitely recommend it. How often do you get to see such dramatic, underground scenery? Plus, it’s close enough to Topshop to indulge in a heavy load of retail therapy. Culture and shopping all in one day? Sounds perfect.
