CHRIS OFILI
February 08, 2010
We're rejoining the nineties and heading off to see a retrospective of Chris Ofili's work on show at the Tate Britain until May 16th. One of the original Young British Artists, Ofili won the Turner prize in 1998 and went on to become one of the most critically acclaimed painters of his generation. He's well known for his use of bold colours and strong social themes, drawing inspiration from Africa and melding it with an awareness of current affairs. Top of our list of things to see is The Upper Room - a collection of 13 canvasses in rainbow hues, set against walnut-panelled walls. Get yourself a ticket, get down and see yourself a piece of art history!
