SPRUCE UP YOUR NAILS, HAIR AND BROWS!

Gosh, it’s been an exciting week at Topshop Oxford Circus! WAH, East London’s hippest nail salon - headed up by the amazing Sharmadean Reid - has opened up shop in the basement of our flagship store.

No-one does nails like the girls at WAH! Not only do they have the most amazing shades - we're loving Essie's candy colours for spring - but their nail art is like nothing you will have seen before. Inspired by the SS10 trends, there’s everything you could want from leopard print and sailor inspired stripes to studs and Chanel’s famous interlocking c's. The only problem you’ll have is deciding which design to put on your nails!

Adding to the excitement, our Daniel Hershon Blow Dry Bar has also had a revamp! It's now in the basement right next to WAH and our Powder Lounge who specialise in perfecting eyebrows and lashes. Topshop, hair, nails and brows all in one place! We don't think it gets any better than this!

OUT OF PRINT

We've just discovered Out of Print - an online exhibition of lauded art director David James' work. He's the creative director of Another Magazine, and has worked with brands like Prada, Miu Miu and Alexander McQueen, so you know that he knows his stuff! It’s an amazing body of work, shown in chronological order, and each with a clickable 'Idea Evolution' button, under which James writes about where the idea came from and what was going through his mind. We love all the beautiful, striking imagery and will be taking full advantage of this chance to get inside the mind of a creative genius!

WHAT'S IN YOUR SHOEBOX?

We were really touched when we found out about Shoebox living. This exhibition aims to raise money for the amazing charity Kids Company and we think the idea is brilliant!

They’ve asked children they consider vulnerable to take a shoebox and, in it, recreate a room from their home and then give a short description of what they did and why. The result is some inspiring pieces and a real insight into these children’s worlds. The kids’ boxes are to be stacked together to create a tower block of their shared experiences and outlooks and will go a long way to helping the charity raise money for art workshops and art therapy for traumatised children.

USE-3

The exhibition - on tomorrow from 10am -  6pm at the Haunch of Venison in Burlington Gardens in London - is being supported through Shoebox Art by the Bryan Adams foundation, who has invited a host of leading artists to do the same as the children. All the finished pieces will be sold off in a lottery auction and there are plans to take the idea around the country, ending up with an entire estate of shoebox living that visitors can walk through. So if you’d like the chance to see some genuinely inspiring art and do a good deed at the same time, be sure not to miss out!

SUMMER SOUNDTRACK ALERT!

USE

There's always a buzz around the office about hot new bands, and somebody's usually got an infectious tune stuck in all of our heads by lunch time, so here's a little list of bands we love to love right now:

Le Corps Mince de Fracoise The Skinny Body of Francoise, as they’d be called over here, are a Finnish trio of cooler-than-cool girls producing fast, upbeat electro pop and taking the world by storm. Check out their brilliant tracks Rayban Glasses and Pollution and go crazy for the way they make girls sound so much better than boys.

Lone Lady

It has been called ‘bad-mood music’. It is plaintive and raw and you can almost tell that it was produced in a former-mill-turned-studio somewhere up North. Hailing from Manchester, Julie Campbell played in bands for a few years before deciding to go it alone, and we’re glad she did – we can’t get enough!

Beth Jeans Houghton

Fantastical, beautiful and wonderfully weird, life with Beth Jeans Houghton is like a sumptuous fairytale.  Another Northerner – this time from Newcastle – she has an unbelievably great voice and a style of music that’s as individual as it is instantly loveable. We especially adore the name of her first EP: The Hot Toast Volume One.

John and Jehn

Gigs with Chanel and a fiercely loyal following are just two of the reasons why we love this French duo. Another reason is that they’re such a cute couple and that they make really, really beautiful music. Their vocals mixing together on Oh My Love is enough to give us tingles all over!

GLITTERATI

Spring is here, the new collections have landed, and we’re all swooning over everything in sight. And with the new season comes a new feeling, new trends and whole new style to catch on film. Behind-the-scenes, shooting for our lo-fi Boutique feature is always so much fun. We prowl around HQ looking for the best spot, grab an armful of Boutique's hottest new styles and set up camp in our secret location. This time we got up to mischief with glitter in all sorts of different colours and really wanted to take home everything on camera! Check out the slide show to see the end results!
