LADY IN RED

July 19, 2010

We adore a bit of bona fide fashion royalty, and that’s why, right now, we're immensely jealous of Brisbane. Beginning August 7th and lasting until November 14th, the lucky Australian city will play host to Valentino, Retrospective: Past/Present/Future.

Set up in the Gallery of Modern Art, the exhibition takes in haute couture from 1959, through to the AW09 collection. Expect to see a wealth of sartorial history in the form of iconic gowns, exquisite tailoring and that unmistakable Valentino red.

The label was the first ever couture house to be officially recognised outside of Paris and has perpetuated the kind of old school glamour associated with red carpets and glamorous screen sirens. The garments on show will include pieces from the legendary White Collection alongside outfits made famous by their celebrity wearers.

If you happen to be down under and like the idea of being surrounded by mind-blowing design, we think this is a must-see!

We’re also loving this snap that we found on our travels around the internet, of the great designer sketching out dresses on an iPad. Technology has never been more chic!
