We're all beyond excited about the AW10 collections, and levels have been kicked up a notch now that our new lookbook images have landed! Take your pick from Dark Nouveau, Into the Wild and The Outsiders for next season’s hottest looks and mix classic shapes and sophisticated tones with spikes, sparkles and soft faux fur. Next season promises to bring a wealth of new style, with the coat set to take centre stage. Whether you opt for a timeless trench or a prize parka, be sure to team with layer upon layer of clashing textures and serious sartorial attitude!

Into the Wild is set to drop this weekend, so get ready to embrace your inner wild thing, and watch this space for the next collections! In the meantime, why not check our Facebook album to whet your appetite?

CHIEF

Earlier in the week we caught wind of LA band Chief and were instantly smitten! They hail from the West Coast, but got together in New York and have a mellow, catchy, rock-and-rolly way about them that we can’t get enough of. Their album Modern Rituals is due to drop on September 17th, so we tracked them down and caught up with Evan, Danny, Michael and Mike after a brilliant gig at The Social in London.

How're you finding London?

London's great! It's a home away from home. We've been over here every summer for the last three years and will be back in August to do Reading and Leeds festivals. London has grown on us though. At the beginning it's so big and hard to manoeuvre!

What are your favourite London hotspots?

The Portobello Gold; that's our pub. We came across it by chance and now have many friends there. We really rely on friends of ours to show us a good time.

What's your proudest moment to date?

Completely finishing our album. You know, we don't have anything left to do. We were working on it for months - a really long time.

What's your most treasured possession?

We love the Coos Bay, which is the trailer that we drive around America.

Coos Bay?

It's a little town in Oregon...  Actually, this is probably my most treasured possession - this is my grandfather's hat.

Sum up your style in three words

Gutter beard party...  or hand-me-down!

What's the best place in the world?

The best place in the world is this bench in Montmartre...

What happens on the bench?

Nothing! Actually, there's a cliff that overlooks Kaanapali Beach, in Maui. Our family would jump off... it's a tradition.

Who's better, Superman or Spiderman?

Spiderman... or Superman... We like the Green Lantern the most.

What was the last thing you bought from Topshop?

A jacket from Topman in Scotland.

Complete this sentence: The very best feeling in the world is...

Playing a show. It feels pretty good up there.

FANCY FOOTWEAR

We love these gorgeous ballet flats so much that we were inspired to take a vintage-look film on VintageMaker app for iPhone! Keep an eye out - they'll be landing on our site soon!

HAVING A FIELD DAY

We're well into festival season and loving every minute! Next on our radar is an afternoon out at Field Day, which hits Victoria Park on July 31st and looks set to be the perfect mix of eclectic music and country fête. Head to the Eat Your Own Ears stage to see headliners Phoenix and Andrew Weatherall and have good old dance to a DJ set by the infamous Gilles Peterson. Then check in on Atlas Sound before shifting the pace up a notch for Fake Blood and Blogger's Delight. If all the music and bopping gets a bit much, take a jaunt down to the village green area, where you can browse myriad stalls of food and wares and try your hand at a few old school games (as well as a few more unusual ones!) Ever fancied milking a plywood cow? This is your chance! There's a cabaret tent and a treasure hunt with a twist, and a DIY fashion tent where you can swap your clothes for new vintage finds. We think we might have found our perfect day!

LADY IN RED

Exhib-image
We adore a bit of bona fide fashion royalty, and that’s why, right now, we're immensely jealous of Brisbane. Beginning August 7th and lasting until November 14th, the lucky Australian city will play host to Valentino, Retrospective: Past/Present/Future.

Set up in the Gallery of Modern Art, the exhibition takes in haute couture from 1959, through to the AW09 collection. Expect to see a wealth of sartorial history in the form of iconic gowns, exquisite tailoring and that unmistakable Valentino red.

The label was the first ever couture house to be officially recognised outside of Paris and has perpetuated the kind of old school glamour associated with red carpets and glamorous screen sirens. The garments on show will include pieces from the legendary White Collection alongside outfits made famous by their celebrity wearers.

If you happen to be down under and like the idea of being surrounded by mind-blowing design, we think this is a must-see!

We’re also loving this snap that we found on our travels around the internet, of the great designer sketching out dresses on an iPad. Technology has never been more chic!
