Party season is here and at Topshop towers, we're all obsessing over the latest drop from Boutique! This Christmas, it appears that alongside pretty silk slips and luxurious metallic tees, we're coveting the organza dress. Seriosuly chic, in a simple, space-age kind of way, it's at the top of our party wear wishlist. VINTAGE BEAUTIES

Shoes

When we spotted these beauties, we knew we had to take a snap! Unfortunately, they're vintage and all the way from LA but that doesn't mean we can't wish they were ours. We don't know about you but right now, we're obsessed with boots. They seem to be the the perfect way to make a summery dress work while the sun's not shining...

ALL GROWN-UP

Smoke_Mirrors

Get ready to go glamorous! Our limited edition AW11 make-up collection has just landed and we can’t wait to give our bags a new season makeover. We love the sophisticated palette and tortoiseshell packaging so much, we had to ask Lizzie Dawson, one of the lovely designers who worked on the collection to share what inspired it: “After seeing the way Parisian girls apply their make-up, with such neatness and precision, I imagined the type of grown-up products I would find in their handbag. It was very much inspired by the glamour of the early 70s. This collection emanates the decadent feel of the period, epitomising the idea of glossy polished beauty. Smoke & Mirrors rebels against the grunge glamour of trends past by concentrating on a more alluring, captivating look.”

To help you get the Perfectly Polished look as shot on the lovely Anais, Hannah Murray - one of the industry’s most sought after make-up artists - talks you through the application process step-by-step.

Make-up1

To create the Perfectly Polished look:

- Using Eye Palette ‘Secret Liaisons’, apply pale beige or pink eyeshadow onto your eyelid and up to brows
- Apply brown matte shadow to socket
- Bring the brown matte shadow underneath bottom lashes to create wide eyes
- Thickly coat top and bottom lashes with Lash Extender mascara
- Blend ‘Glow’ highlighter into cheekbones, forehead, nose, cupids bow, chin and browbone to give luxurious sheen
- Sweep bronzer under cheekbones to define
- Add blusher onto apples of cheeks
- Apply the creamy beige lipstick straight
- Groom brows with a touch of Balm

STANDON CALLING

Posted on August 18, 2011

Last weekend we packed our backpacks full to the brim with all manner of weird and wonderful fancy dress, and headed off to Standon Calling. Set in the grounds of a 16th century manor house in Hertfordshire and with less than 3000 people attending, it’s a truly unique event that really deserves its ‘boutique’ title. A three-day party that started in 2001 as a birthday BBQ, the festival has maintained all its personal touches – there’s a secret woodland bar, an all-night club in a cowshed and even a swimming pool to cool off in! Add in plenty of amazing on-the-verge-of–breakthrough music acts and a crowd that’s the friendliest we’ve ever seen - it’s pretty much the ultimate English festival experience!

1

We loved the ‘Gods and Monsters’ theme and couldn’t get over some of the incredible fancy dress on display!

2

There were artists like Lamb and Hercules & Love Affair rocking the main stage, which was small enough that it felt like being at a private gig.

3

We met loads of stylish girls hanging out by the pool or checking out the array of incredible food stalls, and totally fell in love with Arancini risotto balls.

4

There were some amazing vintage and fancy dress stalls, so we stocked up on plenty of quirky accessories to bulk up our festival armoire. But easily our highlight of the weekend was this tiny canine Wonder Woman – you don’t get much cuter than that!
